Dominican

Before coming to the Dominican, God really challenged me in my faith by giving me the desire to learn about Him by encouraging me to read His word and by helping me see what it means to fully depend on Him in everything I do. I want nothing more to live fully in His will.

In 2000, I traveled to the Dominican Republic for the first time with a ministry group from college. It was during that trip that I fell in love with both missions and the Dominican Republic. It is then that I said to my mother, “This is what I want to do with my life.” Since then, God has led me back to the Dominican Republic six times over the past four years on short-term mission trips, to serve in Santo Domingo, and to intern with SCORE.

I believe God gifted me with the ability to educate. After 11 years of teaching, I felt Him leading me to use the platform of education to spread His Word and in July 2013, I sold everything, quit my job and moved to Quisqueya, Dominican Republic to work as a missionary through SCORE International.

There, I coordinated the child sponsorship programs, taught Saturday Bible Club for kids, led a Bible Study for women and taught 1st grade.

I desire nothing more than to serve God in a way that will deeply impact the Dominican people, empowering them to learn about and accept Him, serve Him in their everyday life, and use their gifts and talents to bless others.  I am excited to now work as a reading resource teacher, helping kids in grades K-4 who are behind in reading.  I will be working in 2015-2016 building relationships with the local churches to help serve the needs of women and teenage girls in the surrounding communities.
